I’M ON THE FRONT COVER OF A MAGAZINE!!!!!!!!!
I’m absolutely elated. Thanks to my good friend Collin McAfee, two months of messages between myself and the editor, scheduling shoots with photographers and my hair and makeup artist, and here we are, May 2014, with the cover of CANADIAN TRUCKING MAGAZINE.
With a reader base of 80,000+ per month, distributed at all major truck stops canada wide, it seems I’m finally getting some of the exposure I’ve been hungering for.
The best part? We weren’t even supposed to be shooting the cover last week! We just had a meeting with the recurring trucking champion Howard McAfee, took some photos of me XP3’ing him (great product for trucking! Head to the magazine website for details or pick up an issue at your local truck stop.) Then we took some impromptu photos inside with me wearing a CTM shirt. I was wearing hardly any makeup, and my hair is as natural as it gets, all I did was brush it. I leaned into a pose, and what would you know? The editor loved it so much I made the cover of the magazine a month early! We weren’t supposed to be doing my cover til June! And I think I’m still doing the June one?
The funny thing is, the last time I took a front cover (the cover of the Edmonton Sun) I also landed that by accident. The photographer Perry Mah drove all the way out to Stony Plain to take my photos for the sunshine girl. Once I was done he asked if I had a bikini and wouldn’t mind holding a bingo sign. I said “sure.”
As I was posing I tripped, fell sort of, laughed, and the photographer snapped the picture. He told me to expect to be in the paper in the next couple weeks.
I went to the store every day after that, 2days later I picked up the paper, scrolled to the sunshine girl, was let down that it wasn’t me, put the paper down, almost walked away before I looked again and literally said “HOLY SHIT IM THE FRONT COVER”
And because it was first thing in the morning, the lady at the store didn’t believe I was the girl on the cover, so I showed her my ID and we both jumped around being excited over what I’d accomplished.
Funny how the best outcomes come from unplanned occurrences.
(Also I’m au naturel in this cover, when the magazine is published you will see the styled images. They were styled by http://www.facebook.com/fancyfantasy YOU CAN BOOK HER TOO! Send her a message!)
