Free Canada Day Activities 

What a great country we live in! If you’re here in Calgary there’s many activities to take part in, And most are FREE! I’ve listed them below:

Fireworks

Fireworks will take place on Centre Street bridge at 11 p.m. Friday.

If you tune your radio to Wild 95.3 or 101.5 Kool FM you can watch them to synchronized music.

Aboriginal showcase and powwow
Canadian military displays

Fort Calgary

Living Flag: Wear red or white and join in on a group selfie to participate in a “living” Canadian flag at noon
Entertainment includes a pancake breakfast, live music, a petting zoo and various children’s activities

The Fort is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Riverfront avenue 

12pm: Food trucks will be along the street and the day will finish with live entertainment on the Riverfront Stage at the Harry Hays building. 

Olympic Plaza

The plaza will have a market, craft stations and food trucks as well as stage performances. 

Eau Claire Market

11am-4pm family activities 
Artisan Market will remain open until 9 p.m., along with a beer garden, entertainment and food trucks.

The first 1,000 guests will receive free ice cream. 

Chinatown 

9 a.m the street fair will host crafts and vendors, children’s activities

Educate yourself and others about Canada’s Chinese settlers all day until 11 p.m. with cultural performances and family friendly activities

East Village Street Fair, Show & Shine and 5th Street Square, see classic cars and imports.

Heritage Park is hosting a parade with live entertainment and a variety of family activities. 

Parking

Enjoy free parking in the following parkades on Canada Day:

McDougall Parkade

Centennial Parkade

City Centre Parkade

James Short Parkade

Convention Centre Parkade

City Hall Parkade

Street parking is free!!!!! those oh you parking in city-run surface parking can park for a cheaper rate. 

Don’t have anything to wear? No problem! 

Head over to Chinook Mall and stop by the Freddy Pant Room or order online (if you order online you receive a free tank top! Yay Canada day freebies!) 


Hop on your bike, jump in a car or take the c train to the festivities and I’ll see you all there! Happy Canada day everyone!
